Halloween buddies

Two friends ready for Halloween.  I created both of these from gourds!  The witch is made with one real gourd for the head and two craft pumpkins I purchased.  I created the ghosts with cheesecloth, toothpicks and mod podge.  The hair is raffia and I sculpted the hands from polymer clay.  I made the witch’s hat with felt and stuffed it with fiberfill.

The Jack O Lantern was created with a real gourd.  I cut and carved it.  The ghost is the top part of the original gourd and the hat on the ghost is part of another gourd.  The leaves were also created from a gourd.   The banner is made with paper and I used the Martha Stewart letter punch to create the “Boo” letters. Both were painted with acrylic paints.

And while I was very busy Max was a little bored!

Launch . ..

What a beautiful morning for the Endeavour to launch from the Cape and  how lucky we are to be able to walk out and view the launch from our dock .   Clear, cool sunny and very little wind  – Godspeed Endeavor!!

The last craft show was on May 7th and it was a very nice show.  We had lots of visitors for May, which is usually not well attended.  But the weather was beautiful and sales were good too, a nice end to the 2010-2011 season.

Here is a photo of my latest gourd.  I completed this Yellow Hibiscus gourd on the Friday before the show and it was purchased at the show the very next day.

Yellow Hibiscus Gourd -pyrography and acrylics

I have found the pyrography or wood burning so relaxing.  I just purchased a new tip for my pyrography pen and it really burns beautifully.  I plan on creating more of this type of gourd art for the January 2012 show.

Already started on my Christmas ornaments also – a few new designs coming this year too.

Have a wonderful day – please feel free to leave a comment below if you are so inclined   Ü
