Shades of Red

I love challenges ! So when the Art and Antique Gallery in Eau Gallie Florida presented the challenge Shades of Red I was motivated to create a doll. “Ruby” is an all cloth doll made with muslin that has a needle sculpted face and hands with a “skin” over her face to hide the facial seam. I hand painted her facial features, her hair is a combination of mohair yarn and cotton yarn that was woven through a crochet wig cap. Her outfit was created using mostly fat quarters and completely original. Her hands are hand painted. I added the roses and created her hat. She was so much fun to make, but of course the most fun to creating her was the shopping for all the materials. Currently Ruby is displayed and for sale at the Art and Antique Studio in Eau Gallie Florida during the month of July. If you are in the area go see the exhibit, some very good paintings are also displayed.
